It is a day of excitement for the special kids from Rumah Kanak Kanak Orang Kurang Upaya Kirtash

KUALA LUMPUR – The day of excitement for the special kids from Rumah Kanak Kanak Orang Kurang Upaya Kirtash. was at the Equestrian Club at the Selangor Turf Club on April 26,2006. Our purpose at AsiaWorks Leadership Program 95 was to touch the hearts of these kids and to create a loving and caring acceptance of them.
The children were excited from the moment two weeks before when we announced the intended "WOW" Day. They counted the days till the great event.
LP 95 members and volunteers gathered at the waiting area to welcome the special kids. We greeted them with excitement, warmth and cheered. Every member of LP95 took one or two kids to be under his or her care throughout the day. The purpose was to create an interpersonal relationship, to ensure the safety of these children and make sure they did not miss anything.
The children were laughing and looked full of joy as they ran through the horse area. They were delighted with the ponies, horses, balloons, banners and the loud music. They were served drinks and refreshments, and then enjoyed carriage rides and horse riding. Every child got the opportunity to ride. Then there were games __ Amazing Race, horseshoe painting, statue dance and musical chairs. The most important and touching part came where we asked each of the children to make a wish. We wrote these down on coloured paper and tied the wishes on to helium balloons. Some of these wishes really touched our hearts and tears flowed. A handicapped child wished that he could play football, some wished to meet their biological parents, one wished that when he grow up, he would be doing an event like the WOW Day for other children. They wished to be loved and really needed support. When the balloons were let loose. they flew high into the sky. The children and everyone present were captivated by the beautiful scene.
At the end of this wonderful day, we handed out hampers and goodie bags to the children.
For the members of LP 95 the day was a salutary experiencee. It meant they had made a difference by showing their passion and love for these children. We held their hands, made them laugh and, most valuably of all, acknowledged the existence and importance of these special kids.
The children clearly had a wonderful time. Seeing their laughter and joy, LP 95 knew that their hearts were touched.
